OLAF HAJEK

I have recently discovered the work of Olaf Hajek , I have never seen it before even though he is described as a “World renowned” illustrator.
I am totally entranced. He is due to hold a solo exhibition in Cape Town  from 15th March to 16th April and the chances of my getting to it with the UK trip looming are remote.

Just felt I needed to share.
Jane I thought that you might be interested in taking a look at his web site..fascinating.    http://www.olafhajek.com/index.php?menuid=3
Once loaded the site is slightly irritating ,in that you need to scroll down what appears to be a blank page with small graphics top left...once scrolled his vibrant work comes into view
From forthcoming  "Dark Clouds are Gathering " Exhibition
I love the second and fourth pictures.

Such gorgeous color! So much flora and fauna in each picture; and the dark-skinned ladies are terrific! Is he African? There is such a colorful abundance of flowers and birds and even snakes! It definitely looks like Africa! I'm sure you'll manage a way to get to know him when you get back from this England trip. Maybe Eugene would be interested, too. Love, Gerry

I`m glad you like his work Gerry, I am utterly smitten by it. He is a German artists as far as I know, I must try and get the book that goes along with the exhibition it should offer some more insight into the work. Jane thinks his style is reminicent of Freda Kahlo`s work..I can see why, the colours the "flat" method in which its painted. But I dont find it as challenging as trying to understand Freda`s fascination for painting her broken body and tortured mind. She is not one of my favorite artists. Olaf, however ranks high at the moment.
